I’m Mila, welcome to my website!

Let me give you a little backstory on how Mila Fine Jewelry came to be.

I have always found gold and gemstones to be immensely interesting. The fact that these materials are molded by the earth for so many years and humans transform them into their idea of beauty is fascinating to me. When I was younger I had considered working in this industry but I had no idea where to start or who to talk to. It felt really intimidating so ended up pursuing other things.

I grew up in France, in a town near Paris, and went to the Sorbonne Nouvelle Université to study English and Business. At the end of my Bachelor’s degree I had the opportunity to do a 6 months long internship. At the time I was really passionate about piercings and piercing jewelry in particular. So I applied to a bunch of different body jewelry companies and that’s how I ended up in Ohio!

During those 6 months I was able to start learning from a master goldsmith who agreed to take me on as an apprentice. And I ended up liking it so much I stayed! Here we are almost 4 years later and I’m ready to move on different things and keep learning as much as I can.
Over the past few months I’ve been slowly buying my own tools so I could start making the projects I have in my head a reality. I’m so excited to share them with you.

One of my favorite things about this trade is that you’re never done learning. There will always be new techniques, new technology and skill sets to acquire. In 2019 I took an online course with the Gemological Institute of America and learned a lot about colored gemstones and diamonds. I still listen to their online seminars quite regularly. In 2022 I will also be attending a 5 day course at the Drouhard Jewelers School which I’m really looking forward to.
